What are the benefits of joining a running or triathlon clinic?
Incorporating a run or exercise programs into your daily routine can be a healthy and rewarding lifestyle choice. There are a multitude of reasons why people may choose to begin exercise programs. For some it is a productive outlet for the daily stresses of life. Others want to lose those extra pounds, while many find sheer joy in being active in an outdoor environment with like minded people.
Many people need a goal to focus on, such as finishing the 10k Sun Run, qualifying for the Boston Marathon, or entering your first triathlon. Whatever the motivation, the family like environment at North Shore Athletics can help you get there.
Running with a group provides motivation, camaraderie, and support to keep you running and help you meet your fitness goals. Clinic instructors ensure you are running properly to help prevent injury, and there is always someone on hand to answer any questions you may have about exercise programs.
At NSA we work hard to provide clinic members with a safe, informative, and most importantly, fun environment to participate in this healthy and rewarding lifestyle.
What clinic exercise programs are best for me?
In order to prevent injury it is recommended that you take a clinic best suited to your fitness level. If you are unsure of where you should be, come in and talk to one of our staff about which option is best for you.
What does each clinic include?
- Experienced coaching
- Informational presentations with handouts and guest speakers
- An excellent training program for each level
- A great way to meet people at your level of training
How long is each clinic?
Walk/Run, Intro to Run, Intermediate and Run Faster are 14 weeks. Fall Marathon and Half Marathon Clinics are 19-25 weeks (depending on goal race).
What should I expect when I show up?
We begin each session with a talk related to relevant aspects of running and walking. As often as is possible we will bring in guest speakers, experts in a given field, to lead the discussion. We will then head out on our warm up to any given number of locations in the area. This is followed by a thorough group stretch, then the workout. A cool-down back to the store followed by another light stretch concludes the session. Altogether, your time commitment is around two hours a session.
Can I still sign up for a clinic after it has started?
Yes. However, if you have missed more than the first few clinics, it is recommended that you wait for the next clinic in order to reap the full benefits of the clinic. A drop-in rate of $5 is available as an option.
